#2. The Seagull's Laughter (2001)

Storyline: In 1950s Iceland, a sassy widow named Freyja (Margrét Vilhjálmsdóttir) arrives home from America with a newer, slimmer look and a mental list of grievances. Not one to stay single long, Freyja moves in with her aunt, uncle and shrewd young cousin, Agga (Ugla Egilsdóttir), and quickly begins looking for a new husband. She manages to charm a number of local bachelors, including Björn (Heino Ferch), but when men start turning up dead, Agga suspects Freyja of murder.

#3. Daens (1992)

Storyline: In the 1890s, Father Adolf Daens goes to Aalst, a textile town where child labor is rife, pay and working conditions are horrible, the poor have no vote, and the Catholic church backs the petite bourgeoisie in oppressing workers. He writes a few columns for the Catholic paper, and soon workers are listening and the powerful are in an uproar. He's expelled from the Catholic party, so he starts the Christian Democrats and is elected to Parliament. After Rome disciplines him, he must choose between two callings, as priest and as champion of workers. #4. Poor Butterfly (1986)

Storyline: In May of 1945, the news of the fall of Berlin spread to Buenos Aires. Clara is the daughter of a socialist leader named Boris who has died unexpectedly. As Clara learns more about a father she hardly knew, she finds out slowly about his political involvement during the war. #6. The Funeral (1996)

Storyline: In the 30's, in New York, the coffin of the leftist gangster Johnny Tempio is brought to the house of his older brother Ray for the wake of family and friends. Ray is a cold gangster that likes to read and is married to Jean. His brother Chez is a hot head that runs a bar and is married to Clara . Ray decides to revenge the murder of his younger brother and believes the gangster Gaspare is the one who killed Johnny.
