Storyline: Hache (Mario Casas) flies back to Barcelona after spending two years in London, trying to forget his first love and Pollo's (Álvaro Cervantes) death, his best friend. His brother picks him up from the airport; after he settles himself in, he sees his bike covered with a sheet. H. takes his bike for a spin and lands in the port where he used to race illegally. As soon as he gets there he receives a call, turns out Katina (Marina Salas) found out through Álex (Hache's brother) that he just got back; they both agree to meet at a park. When he arrives at the park, Hache sees Chino (Lucho Fernandez) who tells him that things have changed. Chino invites him to a get-together in a restaurant with their other friends. While waiting sitting on a bench, Katina surprises him and they both sit down for some catch up time. Katina asks Hache if he has missed Babi (Maria Valverde) and tells him that she's seen her, but that she has changed. Hache invites her to the get-together, but Katina declines ...

#18. I Found Stella Parish (1935)

Storyline: Stella Parish, star of the London stage, keeps her private life a secret. After an opening night triumph, her mysterious past catches up with her and she vanishes before the after-party. When Ms. Parish doesn't show up, Keith Lockridge, an ace newspaper reporter, at first assumes it to be a publicity stunt. But producer Stephan Norman receives word that Stella is leaving the country. Lockridge is able to track Stella to a ship bound for America, where she is traveling under a false name and wearing a disguise. Aboard the ship Lockridge befriends Stella and her young daughter Gloria. In New York he becomes very close to Stella (now without the disguise) and Gloria, all the while digging up the details of Stella's sordid past. Stella confesses her love for Lockridge after he's already wired his story to his newspaper. With the truth out in the open, Stella sends Gloria to be raised abroad while she exploits her notorious reputation onstage. Sorry for the mess he's made, Lockridge does all he can to revive Stella's legitimate theatrical career.—Jimmy L.

#23. Mandalay (1934)

Storyline: Russian refugee Tanya Borisoff is suddenly abandoned penniless in Rangoon, Burma, by her lover, Tony Evans, who accepted a gunrunning deal from Nick, the owner of an amoral nightclub. Nick made the deal hoping to get Tanya as his main "hostess," which Tanya accepts after an initial refusal, just to make the best of a bad situation. She becomes notorious using the name "Spot White," but her affairs cause the commissioner of police to deport her. She reminds the commissioner of a previous tryst he had with her and extorts 10,000 rupees from him with which to make a new life. She uses a new name, Marjorie Lang, going to Mandalay, Burma, via the Irrawadi River by steamer, where she meets alcoholic Dr. Gregory Burton, who is on his way to help in an area plagued with a deadly contagious fever. As they slowly fall in love, she learns he's doing that to make amends for once operating on a patient while drunk, causing his death. She decides to go with him so they can put their pasts behind them together. But Tony is on the steamer too, and tries to convince Tanya he still loves her. Tony gets a wire from Nick telling him the police are on his trail and will pick him up at the next port, so he leaves evidence to suggest he took poison and jumped overboard, but actually he hides in the hold of the boat. The captain finds the evidence and believes Tanya murdered Tony, but at the urging of Dr. Burton and the first mate who finds the wire, he finally decides it was a suicide and frees her. When Tony returns to an astonished Tanya, he tries to convince her to open a club with him in Mandalay, where she could be a "hostess" again. #25. Undercurrent (1946)

Storyline: Approaching middle age, spinster Ann Hamilton, the daughter of Science Professor David Hamilton - more affectionately referred to as Dink - is intelligent, but dowdy and unsophisticated, she who never expects to get married and does nothing beyond be her tomboyish self in an effort to attract a man. Being single does not bother her as she repeatedly turns down the marriage proposal of Dink's colleague, Professor Joseph Bangs, a man she does not love. So it is with some surprise to her that she not only likes Alan Garroway, a wealthy and handsome industrialist who is doing business with Dink, but that they fall in love and get married after a whirlwind courtship. Alan made his wealth during the war in a family started business which ended up being a parts supplier to the military for their aircraft. In their bi-coastal marriage - Alan's company's headquarters in San Francisco, while he grew up and still owns property in Middleburg, Virginia, outside of Washington, DC where he has many friends in high society - Ann begins to have doubts primarily concerning two aspects. First, she feels out of place in his high society world, and like she is the laughing stock among his friends. He is able to quell her fears about this issue as he acts as her guide to fashion and society behavior. Second, and arguably more important, Ann begins to feel she doesn't really know Alan, mostly as he hid from her the fact that he has a brother, Michael Garroway, from who he is estranged and whose whereabouts he does not know. Michael was once part of the business in its early struggling days, but they parted when Alan caught him stealing from the company. Although she loves and trusts Alan, Ann begins to feel a kinship to what little she learns of Michael through her own investigation, which could place her at odds with Alan, and place her life in potential danger at either the hands of Alan or Michael, which of the two depending on if Alan is telling her the truth about his brother.—Huggo

#28. Interview With the Assassin (2002)

Storyline: Out of work TV cameraman Ron Kobelski is approached by his formerly reclusive neighbor Walter Ohlinger. Ohlinger claims that he was the mysterious "second gunman" that shot and killed President Kennedy. Ohlinger has kept quiet all these years, but has decided to tell his story now that he has been diagnosed with terminal cancer. Kobelski is skeptical of his neighbor's story, after his investigations provide ambiguous answers. His attitude changes, however, after he receives threatening messages on his answering machine, and spots shadowy figures in his backyard. Is Ohlinger telling the truth?
