Storyline: Eccentric performance artist and musician Laurie Anderson directs this documentary about her multimedia theatrical presentation, which was filmed live at the Park Theatre in New Jersey. Her offbeat performance is a mixture of song, poetry, film and whimsy and includes guest performances by author William S. Burroughs and Adrian Belew on guitar. The show includes the songs "Excellent Birds," "Smoke Rings," "Language Is a Virus" and "Talk Normal."

Storyline: They are the "Silver Belles," five women aged 84 to 96. They first met in the 1930's as chorus dancers at the Cotton Club and the Apollo Theater where they worked 15 hour days, rehearsing a new show every week. In their heyday they performed with legendary band leaders like Cab Calloway, Jimmie Lunceford and Duke Ellington. When the big band era ended, and with it the need for show dancers, they all went into other work. In 1985 they put their tap shoes back on, and are still performing regularly. Storyline: This movie is an intimately shot and thus presented live performance of David Byrne's Broadway show American Utopia which emerged from his album of the same name, the album from which most of the songs performed are taken. The show itself is part concert, part musical theater, part performance art, but always Byrne's commentary on the human condition, largely of humankind trying to find its place in a world that often does not make sense. #15. Swing Time (1936)

Storyline: Lucky is tricked into missing his wedding to Margaret by the other members of Pop's magic and dance act, and has to make $25000 to be allowed to marry her. He and Pop go to New York where they run into Penny, a dancing instructor. She and Lucky form a successful dance partnership, but romance is blighted (till the end of the film at least!) by his old attachment to Margaret and hers for Ricardo, the band leader who won't play for them to dance together.
