Storyline: Henry Chinaski never cared for the American dream, the thought of needing to become 'something' and fit into the system disgusts him. He believes that life is free and yours to live like you see fit, and if that in some cases involves copious amounts of whiskey then so be it. Henry spends his days drinking and listening to the radio, and he spends his nights drinking and fighting against Eddy who he thinks personifies shallowness and shameless self promoting. Sometimes in the middle of this he finds the time to jot down a few lines of poetry or a short story. After fighting Eddy and winning for a change Henry is thrown out of his regular bar where Eddy is a bartender. This leads him to seek another watering hole where he happens to find Wanda who is a barfly, in her own words "if another man came along with a fifth of whiskey, I'd go with him". Henry is not fazed by this thou and moves in with her. Of course Wanda immediately goes off and sleeps with Eddy, but after some clothes ...

#5. The Emperor's New Clothes (1987)

Storyline: In Europe several several centuries ago, a group of prisoners about to be executed are freed as part of the celebration of the upcoming marriage of the emperor's daughter, Princess Gilda, to a very rich prince from another country. Among these newly free men are an uncle-and-nephew con artist team, who continue their usual work to the point where they end up in the emperor's own palace, posing as tailors. Taking advantage of the emperor's extreme love for new and newer clothing as a symbol of his wealth, the fake tailors get him to hire them to make clothes (in time for the wedding) that are invisible to all who are either unfit for their position, or very stupid. Of course, they wouldn't make anything at all, but instead steal all of the material (many jewels) and leave the emperor and all the people thinking that they are unfit or stupid. Things start to get more difficult as neither the emperor nor Gilda like the prince she is engaged to, she and the nephew fall in love, the nephew has misgivings about being a con artist, and the emperor is constantly checking on the progress of his tailors, who are watched over by a very suspicious guard.—Pav

Storyline: When American pilot Robert (Chris Makepeace) is shot down over Japan during World War II, his captors plan to execute him, until the village elder, Fukushima (Pat Morita), comes to his rescue. As Robert is assimilated into the village's daily life, he becomes close to his captors, especially a young widow named Miyoko (Mari Sato). When one of the locals catches wind of their relationship, however, it threatens both Robert and Miyoko's life in the village.
