#1. Battle for Music (1945)

Storyline: Thye story of how the London Philharmonic Orchestra managed to stay together operating as a co-operative unit, with no government support, during WW II. During the course of the film, covering years of time, the baton is wielded by such conductors as Sir Adrian Boult, Constant Lambert, Warwick Braithwaite and Dr. Malcolm Sargent as the orchestra plays excerts from Mozart, Tchaikowsky, Greig, Beethoven, Wagner, Saint-Saens, Rachmanioff and others. About to disband for lack of financial support the musicians decide to remain together as a self-governing unit in order to bring good music to the provinces. Through the aid of novelist J. B. #2. The Happiest Days of Your Life (1950)

Storyline: Nutbourne College, an old established, all-boys, boarding school is told that another school is to be billeted with due to wartime restrictions. The shock is that it's an all-girls school that has been sent. The two head teachers are soon battling for the upper hand with each other and the Ministry. #3. Mrs Henderson Presents (2005)

Storyline: Recently widowed well-to-do Laura Henderson is at a bit of a loose end in inter-war London. On a whim she buys the derelict Windmill theatre in the West End and persuades impresario Vivian Van Damm to run it, despite the fact the two don't seem to get on at all. Although their idea of a non-stop revue is at first a success, other theatres copy it and disaster looms. Laura suggests they put nudes in the show, but Van Damm points out that the Lord Chamberlain, who licenses live shows in Britain, is likely to have something to say about this. Luckily Mrs Henderson is friends with him.
