#3. Call of the Canyon (1942)

Storyline: Cattle buyer McCoy has run up gambling debts. When Gene and the other ranchers are ready to sell their cattle, he undercuts his bosses price planning to pocket the profit. The ranchers then try to drive their cattle to another market but McCoy's men set off an explosion and a rancher is killed. #6. Susanna Pass (1949)

Storyline: Game Warden Roy Rogers (Roy Rogers) finds the remains of a slaughtered fawn which has been killed by two prison escapees, Bob Oliver (Robert Bice) and Del Roberts (Douglas Fowley.) He finds the sheriff of Susanna Pass is sick and has to take on the task of tracking them down himself, and gets more hindrance than help from ex-bullfighter Carlos Mendoza (Martin Garralaga) and his daughter Rita (Estelita Rodriguez.) Roy checks with local newspaper owner Martin Masters (Robert Emmett Keane)who professes ignorance of the whereabouts of the hunted men, though he is actually in cahoots with Roberts. The latter shows up after Roy leaves and tells Masters he has knifed Bob and left him for dead in the woods. The two have a scheme for dynamiting the lake and hatchery property for the oil underneath, and disposing of the property owner Russell Masters (Francis Ford), Martin's brother, and taking title of the property. #7. Down Dakota Way (1949)

Storyline: Rancher H. T. McKenzie is informed by veterinarian George Fredericks that his cattle are carriers of the hoof-and-mouth disease and must be destroyed. McKenzie hires Steve Paxton to kill the vet and steal his report. Roy Rogers and the Riders of the Purple Sage (Foy Willing, Darol Rice, George Bamby and Al Sloey) on their way to the Cheyenne Rodeo, detour through Sun Rock so that Roy can visit his old schoolteacher Dolly Paxton, Steve's stepmother. Roy becomes involved in the chase of Steve by Sheriff Holbrook. Ruth Shaw tells Roy that the school board has fired Dolly because of Steve, and that she has turned into a crushed and bitter woman still willing to defend her stepson. Storyline: Unable to legally capture and sell a herd of protected wild horses, corrupt rancher Rance Macgowan uses his trained killer horse, Volcano, to substitute for the real leader of the herd and cause havoc and death among the ranches. #10. Bells of Capistrano (1942)

Storyline: Shag Johnson, owner of the Johnson Brothers Rodeo, has been trying for years to gain control of the World-Wide Wild West Show managed by Jennifer Benton, by fair means or foul. Gene Autry and Frog Millhouse arrive on the scene during a battle between the two rival shows and rescue Pa and Ma McCracken from an attack by Johnson's hired henchmen. All hands are carted off to jail, and great crowds are attracted there by Gene's singing, and Pa McCracken decides to add the singing cowboy to his World-Wide show. He does and Gene skyrockets the box-office receipts, which enrages Johnson since it appears certain that World Wide will be able to secure the contract for the annual Capistrano festival and the following Madison Square Garden rodeo. Gene refuses Johnson's offer of $10,000 per week to change shows, and Shag hires Jenkins to burn the Capistrano set-up to the ground. Pa McCracken is seriously injured and Gene learns that only a specialist from the east can save him, and his fee is $5,000. He accepts Johnson's offer in order to pay the doctor, and Jennifer is heartbroken over his apparent disloyalty. At Johnson's show, however, Gene learns of Johnson's duplicity, forces confessions from Shag and Jenkins, makes the former pay Pa's doctor bill and release Gene from his contract.—Les Adams <longhorn1939@suddenlink.net>

#11. Colorado Sunset (1939)

Storyline: Gene and the boys arrive at their new ranch to find themselves in the dairy business instead of punching cows. They soon become victims of Doc Blair's outlaw gang that is keeping all milk shipments from reaching the market. Gene eventually learns that Blairs's men get their instructions in code when his medical bulletins are read over the radio.
