Storyline: In the Arizona desert, Professor Gerald Deemer (Leo G. Carroll) is experimenting with growth hormones in the hopes of finding a way to increase the world's food supply. His partner in the project was recently found dead in the desert, suffering from a disease that normally takes years to advance, but, in his case, seems to have afflicted him in only a few days. The local doctor, Matt Hastings (John Agar), is puzzled by the strange case and, with Deemer's recently arrived (and very pretty) assistant, Stephanie "Steve" Clayton (Mara Corday), tries to figure out what is going on. Storyline: When poisonous devil-weed infects the grazing lands of cattle country, misguided ranchers , including George Larrabee (Robert Homans), burn off every acre of the infected area-the wrong thing to do. The State Agricultural Commission sends inspector Gene Autry (Gene Autry) and his pal Frog Millhouse (Smiley Burnette) to look into the problem but they encounter strong opposition and are even mistaken for bank robbers when they are found in possession of cash from a crashed crop-duster airplane whose pilot, Jerry Willis (Eddie Dean), they were only trying to help. He's managed to get hold of one of Stuart's tally books that clearly shows he was selling cattle that didn't belong to him. Stuart and his partner Legare will go to any lengths to stop Hardin before he can put the evidence before a court. Beautiful dance hall performer Jeanne Starr arrives in San Antonio under contract to Stuart and Legare but she is clearly smitten with the handsome Hardin.
