Short Review

130101: This movie was not bad but could've been a lot better, with not much more effort in my opinion. Some aspects are done well. In several respects I appreciated the shoot out between Stitch (Brendan Fletcher) and Hannah while in pursuit of Isom Dart (Danny Glover). The sound effects were well done (the reports of the rifles for example) but the fact that two supposedly bad ass bounty hunters just sat around reminiscing and thinking that perhaps their time was up was seriously flawed. How about just shooting back for a start? The filmmakers should have just used other character names rather than attempting to develop interest by portraying Wyatt Earp and Doc Holiday. And I'd bet the first scene involving Holiday breaks some copyright laws. I'd swear some of the lines Doc uses are copied out of Tombstone, actually I'm certain of it. I'm also certain Kennedy studied Kilmer in preparing for this role. They are just too close. Speaking of intellectual property rights, stealing from High Noon as well. How did they get away with this. Wasn't, isn't, someone other than me offended? How much did it cost to get actors like Danny Glover, Billy Zane (Tombstone), John Pyper-Ferguson (Score: A Hockey Musical) and Tom Carey (Open Range) involved in this film? These are some big, ok bigger, film stars. I'd love to know why actors like this get involved in made for TV movies, and seemingly low budget ones at that. Is it just for fun? Are they bored? Owe a debt? Someone please answer me. The primary characters are all too perfect, physically I mean. They're young and have flawless features. Not something I'd expect from the era. I also wouldn't expect the visibly obvious makeup that served only to emphasize the flawless features. Finally, Doc Holiday wouldn't stab Wyatt Earp in the back. From what I know of their relationship, Doc was extremely loyal to Earp. Sleeping with the target of Earp's affections would've likely resulted in one of their deaths. Ok, that's nearly enough. Don't get me wrong; even with the above noted flaws I've still given this film three stars. I actually enjoyed it for some reason, likely the sound. I only suggest you suspend your belief in the old west a bit. Women, with as much fortitude as men, hauling around multiple firearms unopposed in the 1800s is a bit silly...but fun.
