Businessman Tom Fiske (Don Murray) accidentally kills a high school girl while driving drunk, leading to a trial where he faces a manslaughter charge. While Fiske can afford a high-priced team of lawyers, the family of the late teen has no such advantage. Prosecutor Martin Sawyer (Denzel Washington), is determined to see Fiske brought to justice. But as Fiske's attorney deftly manipulates the law to find loopholes for his client, the inexperienced Sawyer begins to lose hope.

As far as made-for-TV films go License to Kill is better than the standard fare. The acting can be a bit overdone but never over-burdening. A chance to see a young Denzel Washington as the over-worked lawyer is a real treat and License to Kill brings up valid points on drunk driving while not being preachy.
