Storyline
Marguerite Gautier (Greta Scacchi), known to her clients as "Camille," is a prostitute in Paris, and she's resigned to her lot. But when gallant stranger Armand Duval (Colin Firth) presents himself as the man who would give her a new life, Marguerite dreams of domestic bliss. The pairing, however, irks Armand's wealthy father (Ben Kingsley), who succeeds in derailing their romance. Marguerite and Armand long to reunite, but social pressures and health concerns might interfere.
