Johnny Jackson, a sleazy talent agent, discovers teenager Bert Rudge singing in a coffee house. Despite Bert's protestation that he really is only interested in playing bongos, Johnny starts him on the road to stardom. The deal they cut, however, is highly exploitative of the young singer, and their relationship soon begins to go bad.—George S. Davis

A funny, fast paced, breezy look at a scene few are aware even existed. The 1950s Soho coffee house scene in London was a brief flickering candle of hip and beat, well sent up in this black & white masterpiece. I've watched it several times and it never grows old.
