Short Review

Greta Garbo stars as the daughter of a farmer kicked out of his home by the noblewoman who holds their mortgage. Garbo and her father leave for Paris where she is going to try her luck at singing, and she is heartbroken when her secret lover, the noblewoman's son, does not try to stop her. Years later, she is s successful opera singer who returns home and the romance is rekindled ... just to see her heart broken all over again. This is a decent silent melodrama elevated by a great Garbo performance.
