Storyline: "Lazybones" Steve (Buck Jones) is fawned over by his girlfriend, Agnes (Jane Novak) and doting mother. But, when he saves Agnes' sister from a suicide attempt, this loafer suddenly finds himself raising her secret newborn daughter, Kit. His easy life turns hard when the town assumes she's his illegitimate child. Steve is called to fight in World War I, and when he returns Kit is no longer a picked-on kid but a beautiful woman (Madge Bellamy). Then his love becomes not quite so paternal.

#3. Sioux City Sue (1946)

Storyline: Utilizing a script from 1939's "She Married a Cop" with a 1946 Hit Parade song for the title, Gene Autry's screen return following his WW II Army Air Corps service, "Sioux City Sue" has Hollywood talent scout Sue Warner (Lynne Roberts) in search of a singing cowboy and finding and offering cattle rancher Gene Autry (Gene Autry) a contract. He agrees to go to Hollywood if there is a part for his horse Champion. Gene isn't aware they only want to use his voice in an animated cartoon. After the preview, he and Champ depart in a huff (Well, actually, Champ was in a trailer). The annoyed Sue also follows and gets work on Gene's ranch as a cook. Later, the studio heads, while looking at Gene's screen test, decide he is a natural and want to sign him to a contract. After a few misunderstandings, Gene realizes that Sue is sincere, and he signs a contract to star in a musical western, but first he has to stop a cattle stampede and rout a gang of rustlers trying to blow up his ranch dam.—Les Adams <longhorn1939@suddenlink.net>

#4. Call of the Canyon (1942)

Storyline: Cattle buyer McCoy has run up gambling debts. When Gene and the other ranchers are ready to sell their cattle, he undercuts his bosses price planning to pocket the profit. The ranchers then try to drive their cattle to another market but McCoy's men set off an explosion and a rancher is killed. Storyline: In June, 1983, in Dutchess County, New York, Sebastian Cole joins his mother, step-father, and sister for dinner. Hank, Sebastian's step-father, drops a bomb: he announces he's changing sexes. Sebastian's sister splits immediately for California, and his mother takes him back to England. Jump ahead eight months, Sebastian is back in New York, knocking on Hank's door. Hank (now Henrietta, although all the surgeries aren't complete) takes Sebastian in and is his rock over the next few months of high school. Storyline: Gene, representing the ranchers whose rents have been raised again, goes to see Waldo Brooks, the man responsible. Brooks, a nervous wreck who wants to get away from it all, deeds his Company to Gene and flees. As the new president, Gene finds the Company is in financial trouble and he must raise $50,000 as his share or everything is lost. Storyline: The dying outlaw Barton gets Gene to be the guardian of his three boys. The three troublemakers arrive on the Barton ranch from Chicago where they soon uncover Welsh's smuggling operation located there. So Welsh adopts the boys and boots Autry out. #9. The Singing Hill (1941)

Storyline: The free grazing land that the local ranchers have used for years is about to be sold to John R. Ramsey (George Meeker), a greedy, grasping cattle broker. Gene Autry (Gene Autry), as foreman of the Circle R Ranch and head of the Cattleman's Association, tries to make Jo Adams (Virginia Dale), the youthful owner of the ranch, understand that the future of all the ranchers hinges on the sale of her property. But Jo, a frivolous, extravagant heiress to whom sentiment means little, stubbornly refuses to stop the sale. Gene goes to court and has Jo declared incompetent and has himself appointed her guardian. Ramsey has already made a $25,000 down payment to clinch his option to buy within sixty days, and Jo has already spent the money on the debts she owed. Gene's problem is to figure out how to raise the $25,000 to return to Ramsey in order to cancel the sale. #11. One Good Turn (1955)

Storyline: Norman is the oldest orphan at Greenwood Children's Home and now acts as their caretaker. All the orphans are very happy and well cared for. The adventures start when a nasty property developer (boo hiss) who is also the chairman of the orphanage board wants to close the orphanage and build a factory on the site. The children are sent to Brighton for the day and Norman is very excited because he's "Never seen the Sea". Storyline: When Gene's boss is murdered, the boss's daughter is seriously injured. To raise money for her operation, Gene and the ranch hands enter the new medium of television as singers. When they do well, the bank agrees to lend them the needed money. Martin, who is the murderer, is after the ranch.
