#1. Hell Drivers (1957)

Storyline: Joe "Tom" Yateley is an ex-convict. Trying to leave his past behind, he decides to start working for the Hawlett Trucking company, which transports gravel. It's an aggressive company, where speed is everything. Doing too few runs in a day? You're out. Red is the most experienced trucker. He can do eighteen runs in a day. Tom soon makes friends with Lucy, the secretary, and Gino, a driver. But the record of Red intrigues him and he wants to break it. Gino advises against it, but he helps Tom when he wants to go through with it. Soon trouble begins when Red and the other drivers form a united front against Tom. Just when Tom has enough and decides to pack his bags, Lucy tells him Gino had a terrible accident. She also tells about the corruption of Hawlett Trucking.—Arnoud Tiele (zelva@tiele.nl)

#2. Trucker (2008)

Storyline: Diane's free-wheeling life of drunken one-night-stands as a professional trucker hits a road block when Peter, her son, is dropped at her doorstep. Her former husband Len, whom she abandoned eleven years ago along with their new-born son, has cancer and no one else to turn to while he's in the hospital. Peter, resentful and wary, wants, even needs a mother who'll want him at this worrisome time but knows better than to expect this from Diane. #3. Convoy (1978)

Storyline: While driving through the Arizona desert, Albuquerque based independent trucker Martin Penwald - who goes by the handle "Rubber Duck" - along with his fellow truckers "Pig Pen" and "Spider Mike", are entrapped by unscrupulous Sheriff Lyle "Cottonmouth" Wallace using a key tool of the trucker's trade, the citizens' band (CB) radio. Rubber Duck and Cottonmouth have a long, antagonistic history. When this encounter later escalates into a more physical one as Cottonmouth threatens Spider Mike, a man who just wants to get home to his pregnant wife, Rubber Duck and other the truckers involved, including Spider Mike, Pig Pen and "Widow Woman", go on the run, figuring the best thing to do being to head to New Mexico to avoid prosecution. Along for the ride is Melissa, a beautiful photographer who just wanted a ride to the airport. As news of what happened spreads over the CB airwaves, other truckers join their convoy as a show of support. Cottonmouth rallies other law enforcement officers ...

#4. High-Ballin' (1978)

Storyline: The ruthless boss of a trucking company, King Carroll (Chris Wiggins) is intent on putting all local independent truckers out of commission, including amiable tough guy Duke (Jerry Reed). Joined by his good buddy, Rane (Peter Fonda), Duke defies King Carroll's attempts to shut him down, resulting in an increasingly tense conflict. The boys find an ally in female trucker Pickup (Helen Shaver), but can the threesome succeed in triumphing over Carroll's goons?

#5. Citizens Band (1977)

Storyline: A truck driver nicknamed Chrome Angel (Charles Napier) gets into an accident while passing through a small town. Spider (Paul Le Mat), a repairman, picks up Chrome Angel's distress call over his CB radio, and rescues him. The only problem is that Chrome Angel is a bigamist, and now his two wives (Marcia Rodd, Ann Wedgeworth) have both arrived on the scene. Spider also has his own set of problems, and is caught up in a feud with the local priest (Ed Begley Jr.).
