Storyline: In the midst of the Civil War, Lassiter has a plan to get control of California. Working out of St. Joseph, he plans to send forged messages to the troops on the west coast via Pony Express. First he attempts to bribe Pony Express ride Roy Rogers. #2. Cavalcade of the West (1936)

Storyline: During the gold rush days a wagon train is attacked by a gang of renegades. John Knox is killed and one of his young sons, Asa Knox, is kidnapped by the renegade leader. The other son, Clint, and his mother Martha escape and reach St. Joseph, Missouri. Clint grows up and becomes a crack rider for the Pony Express. The kidnapped brother, now known as Ace Carter, has been raised by the outlaws with a contempt for the law. He is an unsuccessful rival of Clint's for the Pony Express job, which fosters enmity between them. Ace holds up a stagecoach on which Martha Knox and Clint's sweetheart, Mary West, are passengers. Clint takes the trail and runs him down. Clint later learns Ace's true identity and saves him from a lynch mob. #3. Outlaw Express (1938)

Storyline: The government assigns cavalry captain Bob Bradley (Bob Baker) to an area where pony express riders are being killed by arrows and their mail is being rifled. Posing as horse buyers, Bob and his pal, Andy Sharpe (Don Barclay), center their investigation around the ranch owned by Don Ricardo Hernandez (Martin Garralaga) where, in addition to learning that the Don has a pretty daughter named Lorita (Cecelia Callejo), he discovers that Jack Sommers (LeRoy Mason) and his lead henchman Phelps (Jack Kirk) are getting possession of the huge ranches, created by Spanish land grants, by having Ramon (Carleton Young), a disloyal Hernandez servant, kill the riders with arrows (hoping the Indians will be blamed) and taking the certificates of registry.—Les Adams <longhorn1939@suddenlink.net>
