Storyline: Caterina is a nun and has taken provisional vows for a month when she goes to a park when she meets a man who has found an abandoned baby boy and entrusts him to take him to the hospital. After doing so, Caterina begins to visit the little one and becomes attached to him so much that he tries to trace his mother through the sweater in which he was wrapped. This goes as far as Ernesto, forty-one, owner of a laundry left to him with his father's debts. Ernesto is unhappy with life and is all centered on his problems so as not to even remember the names of his collaborators. The boy's mother is perhaps Teresa, his former employee and Ernesto is perhaps the father. Storyline: Much of the Pakistani Hussein family has settled in London, striving for the riches promised by Thatcherism. Nasser and his right hand man, Salim, have a number of small businesses and they do whatever they need to make money, even if the activities are illegal. As such, Nasser and his immediate family live more than a comfortable lifestyle, and he flaunts his riches whenever he can. Meanwhile, his brother, alcoholic Ali, once a famous journalist in Pakistan, lives in a seedy flat with his son, Omar. Ali's life in London is not as lucrative in part because of his left leaning politics, which does not mesh with the ideals of Thatcherism. To help his brother, Nasser gives Omar a job doing menial labor. But Omar, with bigger plans, talks Nasser into letting him manage Nasser's run down laundrette. Omar seizes what he sees as an opportunity to make the laundrette a success, and employs an old friend, Johnny - who has been most recently running around with a gang of white punks - to help ...

Storyline: Merle Kramer works as a stenographer for a psychiatrist. She is casually dating Karl Benson, a private eye and former cop. When the wife is found murdered in a manner identical to that of her husband's dream, the husband is naturally the prime suspect. They meet again, but Camille is very unsure about her feelings. When Martin is away for a weekend, Camille and Petra meet in the Circus where Petra is working as an acrobat.
