Storyline: After escaping from prison, Glenn Griffin, his brother Hal and a third inmate Sam Kobish randomly select a house in a well-to-do suburb of Indianapolis in which to hide out. The home belongs to the Hilliard family, Dan and Ellie who live there with their 19-year old daughter Cindy and their young son Ralph. They plan on staying only until midnight as Griffin is awaiting his girlfriend who will meet them with some money he had stashed away. When she doesn't arrive, their stay stretches out to several days. Dan Hilliard plays their game knowing that if he makes any attempt to contact the police, his family could be caught in the crossfire.—garykmcd

Storyline: Wrangler Clay Phillips and his younger brother Steve are taking horses to their ranch near Sonora when they come across four dance hall girls heading the same way with a wrecked buggy. One of the girls is taken away by a boyfriend who came after her. Clay takes the girls on to the nearest ranch, where it turns out one of the girls is the homesteaders' wayward daughter. Storyline: Arizona Deputy Sheriff Coogan (Clint Eastwood) is sent to New York City to collect James Ringerman (Don Stroud), a prisoner who escaped from custody in Arizona. Everyone in New York City assumes Coogan is from Texas, much to his annoyance. To add to Coogan's problems, the prisoner is in Bellevue after taking a trip on LSD while In custody, so he decides to cut a few corners. In the process, the prisoner escapes, steals Coogan's gun, and Coogan is ordered home. Too proud to return home empty-handed, Coogan sets out into the big city to track down and recapture his prisoner.
