Storyline

Sang-do (Ryoo Seung-bum) has ambitions of becoming a major player in the drug racket. Working as a two-bit crystal meth dealer, he pays the bills and supports his semi-retired drug-dealer uncle by acting as an informant for corrupt cop Ho (Hwang Jung-min). The two form an uneasy alliance when they try to take down a local drug lord protected by government officials, but problems in their personal lives continue to intrude at inopportune moments, jeopardizing their chances for success.

Short Review

This movie is much darker and seedy than is usual for a Korean cops vs. drug kingpin movie. The focus on the competing interests of the various characters, based on selfishness and personal gain, is reinforced by the quality acting from the leads. This movie does not have the usual shootouts and car chases that have become a staple of Korean cop movies. Yet, the pacing does not suffer as there is plenty to keep the story constantly moving forward. The movie does try to do a bit to much, introducing a plethora of new characters at the id-point of the movie, which leads to some confusion leading to the climax of the movie.
