When the President of Russia suddenly dies, a man whose politics are virtually unknown succeeds him. This change in political leaders sparks paranoia amongst American C.I.A. officials, so C.I.A. Director Bill Cabot (Morgan Freeman) recruits young analyst Jack Ryan (Ben Affleck) to supply insight and advice on the situation. Then the unthinkable happens: a nuclear bomb explodes in a U.S. city, and America is quick to blame the Russians.
nuclear explosion, washington d.c., throat slitting, atomic bomb, helicopter, terrorist plot, secret agent, maryland, u.s. president, arms dealer, spy, zeppelin, fistfight, based on novel, based on book, death of friend, airforce one, covert operation, israel, baltimore maryland
In this Bush-Ashcroft age, we do not especially need more strictures on civil liberties, but after this despicable film perhaps the great minds of Movieland could be persuaded to agree on a ground rule: films about nuclear terror must not be risible.
