Short Review
On the surface this uneven film is about a boy and his pet chimpanzee who learns to communicate in sign language. While this aspect of the movie does offer a ton of heart and humor what's not utilized enough is the story underneath about family values being compromised and the emotional repercussions. And when this story starts to come to the forefront it all feels rushed and unearned
