Filipino guerrillas fight to rid their island of the Japanese during World War II.

Short Review

A Filipino-American film about the Second World War which displays a bit of an overhang from the American colonial period. Oriental representations of American Pacific territories and the vulnerabilities of the American (women) population to the unpredictability of its 'savage'/semi-civilized colonial subjects dot the entire film. In the end, the central character played by the late actor Fernando Poe, Jr. manages to redeem the Filipino in the gaze of American imperialism through loyalty in the face of the horrors of war.
