A tragic and sentimental story that depicts the early career of the 19th century American actor, Edwin Booth with some mention of the events leading to the assassination of President Lincoln by Edwin's brother, John Wilkes Booth. In the film, Edwin's days in the spotlight dwindle shortly after his brother is caught and killed for assassinating Lincoln.—alfiehitchie

Short Review

Prince of Players is an amazing film. Richard Burton gives an excellent performance as Edwin Booth. The screenplay is well written. The costumes are well made and so are the sets. Philip Dunne did a good job directing this movie. I enjoyed this motion picture because of the drama and the history. Prince of Players is a must see.
