An Austrian girl is forced to marry for the sake of the family, rather than for love, which causes her great pain when the man she truly loves commits suicide, rather than see her married to another. Her life takes another turn for the worse when the Nazis rise to power and her Jewish ancestry creates problems. The woman takes steps to do right by herself after vowing to never allow someone else to determine her fate.
The life and times of a Austrian woman with (cue ominous musical overtones...) Jewish heritage, from her youth in the days preceding WW1 and the glory days of Viennese society, to old age when the Nazis come to power. An interesting walk through history from the point of view of a prominent Viennese family, makers of pianos. Interestingly told and presented, so why is it forgotten? Maybe because there's no stars known today helming the effort?
