Blue-collar bartender Tony Angelo (George Raft) longs to live in the soaring heights of San Francisco's affluent Nob Hill. Angelo ignores the affections of torch singer Sally Templeton (Vivian Blaine) to court heiress Harriet Carruthers (Joan Bennett). When Carruthers accepts his proposal, the two marry and Angelo's dream seems to be coming true. But, once immersed in high society, Angelo must suppress his personality to fit in -- and finds himself struggling to escape a growing depression.

Nob Hill is a decent film. It is about the owner of a San Francisco saloon who yearns to rank among the upper crust of Nob Hill. George Raft and Joan Bennett give good performances. The screenplay is enjoyable but a little slow in places. Henry Hathaway did an alright job directing this movie. I liked this motion picture because of the drama and the music.
